Rijk Ravestein graduated summa cum laude from Utrecht University in 1980 as M.Sc. in Cognitive Psychology.
After some years of practice as a behavioral scientist, Rijk started working as software developer in 1985.
Till 1987 he worked on a project automating the core administration of a health insurance company.
From 1987 till 1990 Rijk acted as coordinator producing several multi-user applications on LAN and midrange-systems
as fixed priced projects. His responsibilities included planning, analysis and design,
quality assurance, and implementation.
In 1990 his career took a definite technical direction when working as a consultant for Vleermuis Software Research
in joint operation with IBM Netherlands.
Here he evaluated several development tools concerning Client-Server technology and Object Oriented Programming by
building proof-of-concept prototypes.
Since 1991 Rijk is engaged as both architect and developer in building distributed applications using
Object Technology. Besides some large projects counting several man-months, Rijk participated in many
smaller projects using Agile Software Development.
Rijk worked for some of the largest IT companies in The Netherlands including IBM, Volmac, Cap Gemini and CMG.
In 1998 he started his own company Datraverse.
Rijk's professional passion is developing and distributing high quality business solutions using
state-of-the-art Information- and Communication Technology.
As developer he mainly works as contractor for large and middle-sized organisations.
As distributor he sells and supports third-party software to both consumers and business users.
Rijk lives in the city of Almere (The Netherlands) with his wife and two sons.
In his private time he enjoys his family, sports, theater and music.
